Ordering Prints Online

Remote orders received during open hours may take 24-48 hours to print.

Orders received the last week of classes, April 23 - May 2nd 2022, should not be expected any sooner than 24 hours after ordering, and may take up to 48 hours for your order to be complete.

The DSB is still taking remote orders! The DSB Remote Order Form can be found at this link. You must be logged into your U of MN e-mail and logged out of all other gmail accounts to access the form. See more detailed information below.

Also, see the end of this form for how-to-videos demonstrating how to order prints using the DSB Remote Order Form!

Ordering Prints:

Prints can be ordered via the DSB Remote Order Form. You must be a student registered in an ARTS class this semester to order and use your @umn.edu e-mail address.

Ordering Scans:

If you need an image or negative scanned and do not have access to a scanner in your classroom, please e-mail the DSB directly at dsb@umn.edu . Include information about what you need scanned:

Class: What ARTS class will this be used in?
Original to be Scanned: Is your original a negative, or image, and how big is the negative or image
?
Size: How large do you want the scan to be? If no size is specified it will be scanned at 100%
.
Resolution: What resolution do you need? For example: 72ppi for internet viewing or 300ppi for print.

Please note the size of the original may dictate how big and how high the resolution of the scan can be.

You may include your phone number for a quicker response, or we can work via e-mail. Arrangements to drop off your media to be scanned can be made at that time.

How Long Until Prints are Completed:

Orders received during business hours M-F will be completed in 24-48 hours.

Plan ahead for assignment due dates. Although we plan to have all prints printed 24-48 hours after submission, volume and staff illness could delay this. Prints that need to be mailed will be brought to the post office on Fridays and shipping may take up to one week or more to receive depending on where in the country or world they are being mailed.

Spring 2022:

We will take orders for prints online all semester. Plan for 24-28 hours to get your prints made.

You may come to Regis to pick them up or, if 8.5x11 prints, pay $5 to have them shipped to you. Prints are only shipped on Fridays.

Picking Up Prints:

Students will be able to pick up their prints in one of 3 ways:

  1. Pickup outside the DSB, Regis W138 within 24 hours of your job being completed.(You will be e-mailed with instructions where to get your prints. They will be available on the table outside the DSB, or a locker for fragile orders).
  2. We will give prints to your instructor for pickup in class (prints will be placed in instructor’s faculty mailbox)
  3. Mailed, this option for online classes and high-risk individuals only. We will only ship 8.5x11 prints, larger prints must be picked up outside the DSB. A shipping charge of $5 will be applied to your order.

Using Your Own Paper:

We encourage everyone to use the DSB Luster or Matte paper for printing photographic images, but, if you’d like to use your own paper, indicate that on the DSB Remote Order Form. On the form, under “Choice of Paper Image is Printed on” choose: “Photo Paper printed on Photo printers.” In the next question choose “Providing Paper to the DSB (mention in special instructions at the end)” and be sure to mention it at the end of the form. You will be e-mailed with instructions for dropping off your paper. Please note this will take longer than 48 hours from ordering to get your prints made if we are arranging using your paper.

We have an experimental printer for non-coated papers. Almost any media may be put through that printer as long as it is dry and flat with no deckled edges. Note that the color of prints made on experimental surfaces may be significantly different from the file or may show head strikes (black marks) if the media is thicker or creased.
